Singout 2013 Custom LED Steps

This all started from a conversation with a friend about a dream project of his for a dance show he has been lighting for years. After a bit of research we realized that we would be able to pull the “led steps” off within the budget he had available and we started planning. Since I was still in Milwaukee and the show was in Rochester NY all of the setup and trouble shooting beyond the initial configuration of the control boxes had to be via Skype and remote desktop sessions. The led steps had 2160 led pixels spread across 14 universes of art-net. VVVV handled the pixel mapping with an ETC Element for control with 4 instances OLA running on VM's for protocol conversion between artnet and SACN. Led's are 5050 SMD's w/ ws2811 drive chips with a spacing of 60 leds per meter, they are driven by (3) J1s ecg-p2 led controllers. A challenging project but one I am glad to have been a part of.
